We’ve all been there. You list your smartphone or tablet on Craigslist and receive spam from people trying to scam you. They flood your email and your phone. No matter what tactic you try to imploy to deter them it seems like they never give up. They make up excuses like “I’m out of the country on vacation” or “It’s a gift for my brother in Africa” or “My shipping company will pick it up and pay extra”. Be careful out there and never deal with anyone who seems suspicious.

The real people that you do come in contact with are often times flaky. You plan on a time and place to meet up and they never show up. You waste your time, money, and gas. Many people also try to negotiate the price or trade you for something you have no use for.

It can also be dangerous. Selling your smartphone or tablet to a stranger whom you’ve never met is risky. If you do sell it locally make sure you meet in a public place. Many people on Craigslist will want to meet at the carrier’s store to confirm that the smartphone or tablet hasn’t been reported lost, stolen, and can be activated.
